The Tour:  One of the most important wine regions of Italy takes us to Collio, near the border with Slovenia, where both excellent red and white wines are found. We travel to Gorizia and Cividale to explore the history and sample the wine.  We explore the ruins of Aquileia and the Venetian fortress of Palmanova.

We venture into Slovenia to sample the wine and food and get a glimpse of the culture and history.  A seafood lunch at the port city of Grado, complemented with Friuli wines, is a perfect celebration of the traditions of the area.

Castello Di Spessa, located just a few kilometers from the Slovenian border, provides a flavor of both Italy and Slovenia.  The castle contains eight beautifully restored rooms.  It is surrounded by the vineyards of Castello Di Spessa.  Guests can also enjoy a round of golf or a stroll in the countryside.  A first class restaurant provides an opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine.
